Hexham’s Spookiest Windows 2024

Hexham’s annual Spookiest Shop Windows competition was hotly contested again this year. Over 60 businesses dressed their windows in spooky style in time for the town’s Spook Night event.

Two of Hexham’s newest retailers took the top prizes. Both the winner, Lore, and runner up, Handmade by Lolla Mac, opened earlier in 2024. Pure Plants and Pretty Flamingo shared third place.

First Prize – Lore (Market Street, Hexham)

Folklore boutique for homeware, gifts, art & books

Second Prize – Handmade by Lolla Mac (St Mary’s Chare)

Handcrafted jewellery made in Hexham, plus jewellery making workshops

Joint Third – Pure Plants (Market Place)

Peat-free houseplants raised here in Hexham plus plant pots, vases and cards

Joint Third – Pretty Flamingo (Market Street)

Ethically sourced products, handcrafted art, cards, hair accessories, jewellery, faeries & more

Judge Neil Wilkinson, Chair of Hexham Community Partnership, gave special mentions to last year’s winner The Secret Salon, Gateway Into the Community, Elliott Architects, Small World café, La Petit Salon with Minerva, The Victorian Tap, Hare’s Barbers, G. Wallace Flooring, The Hairdressers, Workspace Hexham, Pattinson estate agents, Andrew Coulson estate agents, Sage Wealth Management, The Natural Grocer.
