There are hundreds of events to come in this busy market town between now and Christmas. Here are just a select few to get in your diary:

Cosmic Frequencies Festival (Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August) A new celebration of space, sci-fi, and music. Booking open now via cosmicfrequencies.org

GlastonAbbey (Friday 22nd & Saturday 23rd August) Tribute weekend featuring Oasis 96, StereoConics, Coldplay it Again and Sham Fender. Booking open now via hexhamabbey.org.uk

Hexham Abbey Festival (24th to 28th September) Classical music, jazz, folk, world music, improv, poetry, film and dance. Booking open now via hexhamabbeyfestival.org.uk

Autumn and Christmas in Hexham

Gaia (Friday 3rd Oct to Sunday 16th Nov) Following the huge success of Luke Gerram’s Moon installation in 2023, Hexham Abbey welcomes Gaia. Booking open now via hexhamabbey.org.uk

Hexham Restaurant Week (Monday 6th to Sunday 12th) October Hexham’s first ever Restaurant Week this February was such a success that it’s back for autumn. Info later in the year at hexhamrestaurants.com

Spook Night (Saturday 25th Oct from 2pm-9pm) FREE entry All the fun of the fair plus low/no cost family activities for all ages. Come along in Halloween Fancy Dress and have a scream! Info later in year on Facebook at Hexham Spook Night

Hexham Fireworks (Saturday 8th November) Hexham’s annual fireworks display starts at 7pm FREE entry, but please give what you can to support next year’s event. Full info to follow later in year.

Hexham Christmas Lights (Friday 21st November) FREE entry. Welcome the start of the Christmas season in style in our lovely market town with this annual event

Father Christmas at the Old Gaol (Opens Saturday 6th December) The big man is back in this amazing building transformed for Christmas! Book via hexhamcommunity.net from 26th August

Sankta Lucia (Tuesday 9th December) Traditional Scandinavian ceremony bringing light into the darkness of Hexham Abbey. Booking via hexhamcommunity.net from early November

The Great Big Christmas Wrapping Disaster (Saturday 6th – Wednesday 31st Dec) Original music, puppetry and a sleigh load of festive fun! Under 6s. Booking open now via queenshall.co.uk

Red Riding Hood (Saturday 6th December to Saturday 3rd January Age 6+ A howl of an adventure for Christmas, with original music and puppetry. Booking open now via queenshall.co.uk

Hexham Christmas Market (Saturday 13th Dec) Festive food, drinks and gifts on offer from over 130 makers and producers in and around Hexham’s historic marketplace and Abbey FREE entry. Full programme released later in the year.
